Apply to Perform in the ComedySportz Show – FAQ

THIS FORM IS FOR SUBMITTING YOUR NAME FOR CONSIDERATION TO PERFORM IN THE COMEDYSPORTZ SHOW AT IMPROV FESTIVUS 2025. SUBMISSION DOES NOT GUARANTEE A SPOT. SELECTION WILL BE MADE BY THE CSz RICHMOND HEAD COACH IN COORDINATION WITH THE FESTIVUS SELECTION TEAM.

What is this form for?

This form allows you to apply to be considered for the Saturday night ComedySportz performance at Improv Festivus 2025. Submitting your name does not guarantee you a place in the show — it only allows the selection committee to review your application.

What are the costs involved in player submissions and why?

We do our best to keep Festivus as affordable as possible while still running a high-quality festival.

• Player Submission Fee: $35 per player ($25 if submitted before September 30).
  

So, why is there a submission fee at all? Because putting on a festival is a big lift! Submission fees help us cover the unseen but essential costs of reviewing every application, paying staff who coordinate selections, and making sure our programming stays organized and fair. They also help offset up-front costs like venue rentals, tech staff, and marketing. Without submission fees, festivals would either have to raise performer registration prices significantly or cut back on opportunities.

We keep our fees lower than most festivals because our goal isn’t to profit off submissions — it’s to make Festivus sustainable while keeping it accessible to as many players as possible.

Do I have to have video to submit?

We encourage any performer to submit, even without video! While video is helpful, it’s not required. We know there are plenty of talented players who aren’t on YouTube or TikTok.

How does selection work?

• The CSz Richmond Head Coach, together with the Festivus Selection Team, will review all submissions.
• Selection will be based on your submission materials and your demonstrated talent.
• ComedySportz Richmond players are welcome (and encouraged!) to apply, but no preference is given to local players — the review process is the same for everyone.
• You will be contacted directly if you are selected to perform.

Do ComedySportz players need to buy performer badges?

Yes. All ComedySportz performers must purchase a Performer Badge to take part in Festivus, even if selected for the ComedySportz show. Performer badges give you access to:
✔️ Admission to all Festivus shows (as seating permits)
✔️ Exclusive performer-only workshops
✔️ Early access to Premiere workshops
✔️ Private after-parties
✔️ A Festivus goodie bag

Are there comp tickets for performers or students?

• No comp tickets for performers
• No comp tickets for CSz Richmond students or community members

Do ComedySportz rules still apply?

Yes! This is a ComedySportz show performed as part of Festivus, but all standard ComedySportz rules and format apply. Expect the same structure, games, and spirit of friendly competition you’d see at any ComedySportz match.

What about travel and lodging?

Performers are responsible for arranging their own travel and lodging. Festivus does not cover accommodations for ComedySportz players.

Why are performer badges cheaper than general admission?

Performer badges are a special discounted rate just for players selected to perform. These are different from General Admission (GA) badges sold to the public, which are higher priced.

• Performer badges will not be published on the website.
• Once you are accepted, you’ll receive a private email with the performer badge link.

What’s the refund or cancellation policy?

There are no refunds or cancellations on player submissions or performer badges. Please make sure you are committed before submitting.

When do submissions close and when will we hear back?

• Submission Deadline: October 15, 2025
• Selections Announced: By October 31, 2025 (you’ll hear from us either way!)
